Panama May 3, 2024. The National Institute for Advanced Scientific Research in Information and Communication Technologies, INDICATIC AIP, as a leading member of Panama's technology ecosystem, attended the event “Move On: Your business in a new era, innovating and transforming Panama”. This meeting, organized by CW Panama, brought together business leaders from the region, innovators and technology experts to explore the latest trends and growth opportunities.
During the event, INDICATIC AIP took advantage of the platform to confirm the positioning of its lines of research and application domains in line with the new technologies developed by leading companies in the sector at an international level. Disruptive projects were presented in areas such as artificial intelligence focused on economic issues, sports, business, among others; for this, points such as cybersecurity and data analysis are the transversal axis.
Among the conferences in which crucial issues for technological transformation in Panama were discussed, we highlight the contributions of Samsung “Artificial Intelligence for all”, Generative AI in the world of sports and business (F1 analytics) by Oracle and the panel Connections of the Future: What are the technologies that are transforming Panama? by executives from CEO XPLOR, CW Panama, HP Enterprise, Hitachi, Fortinet and INCAE.
According to Dr. Philippe Aniorté, director of INDICATIC AIP, the approaches and application domains of artificial intelligence (AI) involve processing data, generating information and knowledge in order to make decisions, make predictions, optimize and simulate, so we increasingly need AI to perform complex processing on Big Data.
The attendance of INDICATIC AIP in this event not only represents a significant milestone for AIP to establish strategic alliances with leading technology companies worldwide, but also favors its commitment to technological excellence and its contribution to the economic and social growth of Panama, through research. Likewise, the alignment of research lines and application domains with the latest trends and emerging technologies was reaffirmed, which ratifies the objective of the AIP with innovation and digital transformation by bringing Panama closer to the frontier of science and technology.
“The importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive innovation, digital transformation in the country and strategic alliances that promote technological development and the nation's digital competitiveness is paramount.”, said Dr. Aniorté.
Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Generative artificial intelligence refers to types of artificial intelligence that generate new data based on patterns found in existing data. It uses deep learning algorithms to create original content, plus images, text, videos and sounds.
Generative AI is data-driven and requires a resilient architecture, focuses on creating new content and task automations; unlike traditional AI that needs to detect patterns, classify data and make predictions.
Some uses of AI:
Telemedicine, connects patients and health professionals through technology by facilitating access to consultations, diagnoses and medical follow-up.
Humidity sensors, These technological devices allow the monitoring of soil moisture in smart agriculture.
Distance education, allows online learning and access to digital resources.
Social transparency and access to information, technology provides society with access to transparent data.
Intelligent traffic, The transformation of intelligent traffic management through sensors, data analysis and connected transportation systems contributes to improving urban mobility while reducing vehicle congestion.
About INDICATIC AIP:
The National Institute for Advanced Scientific Research in Information and Communication Technologies AIP is a public interest association whose vision is to become a national and international center of excellence and a reference for the Latin American region in generating ICT technology.
