Vacancy Technical Assistant in Engineering

The National Institute for Advanced Scientific Research in Information and Communication Technologies (INDICATIC AIP), a Public Interest Partnership (PIP), is looking for a Research Assistant to join its team. Candidate profile and general job information

- Name of position: Technical Assistant.

- Area: Technology.

- Location: Via Centenario, Victor Levis Sasso Campus, Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá, Research and Innovation Laboratories Building, 3rd floor.

- Type of contract: Permanent.

- University degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Electronics, Electronics - Telecommunications, Mechatronics or related careers (recently graduated or in the process of completion).

Technical Knowledge

- Proficiency or solid knowledge in programming languages such as: Python, Java, C/C++, Javascript, SQL.

- Instrumentation experience: Microcontrollers (Arduino, NODEMCU, etc), MPUs (Raspberry pi, orin nano, etc), CCD or CMOS cameras, installation and interconnection of sensors in general.

- Integration of IoT sensors with database (HTTP, MQTT Broker, XAMP, etc).

- Knowledge of basic electronics (analog and digital).

- Knowledge in electrical circuit design software (Circuit Maker, Multisim, KiCad, EasyEDA, etc.), THT or SMD soldering

Optional:

- Knowledge in Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning.

- Knowledge in design of 3D models and customized parts for equipment prototyping: (AutoCAD, Fusion, Blender, etc).

- Experience in handling Drones (RPA).

- No previous experience is required.

- Professional internships, relevant university projects, participation in technological competitions and any contribution that gives the candidate a plus are valued.

Roles and responsibilities

- Support in the development of technological solutions with the research department.

- Participate in the development of proof of concepts, technical documentation and reports.

- Collaborate in the tasks of programming, analysis and maintenance of hardware and software.

- PCB design and fabrication.

- Integration of sensors with databases and data visualization.

- Support in the installation, calibration, operation and maintenance of field instrumentation (photometry, spectrometry, LIDAR, meteorological stations).

- Assist in technical field trips to different parts of the country for installation, monitoring and validation of equipment.

- Writing of reports for dissemination and liaison with communities and authorities.

- Assist in the maintenance and continuous improvement of already implemented prototypes.
